Maureen Lewis has spent over 25 years advising government and private sector leaders around the world on health system reforms. Dr. Lewis has held a variety of management and leadership positions in global health, including Chief Economist for Human Development at the World Bank. She is the author of more than 75 research publications and working papers and five books, and is a member of numerous international organizations including the Council on Foreign Relations  Dr. Lewis speaks frequently for private, public and nonprofit audiences across the globe. She has a PhD in Economics from Johns Hopkins University.

Jerry La Forgia is a leader in global health and hospitals.  He was formerly Lead Health Specialist for China at the World Bank, leading the dialogue and analytic work for Vice-Premier Liu Yandong in the country’s healthcare reform agenda, as well as the World Bank’s Lead Health Specialist in India and Brazil. His major areas of research include hospital governance and management, quality of care, health insurance, and public-private partnerships for health service delivery. He has worked in these areas across Latin America, South Asia and East Asia. He has an Sc.D. in Health Service Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

Jonty Roland is an independent advisor specializing in health system reform and universal health coverage. He has extensive experience working with governments, global organizations, and the private sector in over 25 countries, focusing on areas such as health system design, health financing, and innovative solutions for resource-constrained settings. As an Associate Director at Aceso Global, Jonty contributes to various initiatives and supports the team across diverse health system strengthening efforts. Previously, he served as Program Director of the KPMG Center for Universal Health Coverage, where he led a team that successfully engaged in UHC projects across 18 countries. Jonty holds an MA in Management from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Scott Wells manages internal services of Aceso Global, including finance, human resources and contracts. Prior to joining the Aceso Global staff, he served for twenty years in other non-profit organizations, most notably as the Operations Director of the Sunlight Foundation, a government transparency and accountability organization. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and a master's degree from Texas Christian University.

Mattias K. Lundberg, Ph.D., is a Senior Economist at Aceso Global and has over 25 years of experience as an economist with the World Bank. His work has spanned a wide range of issues in human development, including improving and protecting human capital among children and youth in times of crisis, promoting skills and jobs, food security and nutrition, reintegrating former combatants following war, and HIV/AIDS and TB prevention in Eastern Europe. His published work includes research on incentives in the delivery of primary health services, the behavioral determinants of health, and the cost effectiveness of HIV/AIDS interventions. As part of that work he helped to establish the Economics Reference Group for UNAIDS. 

Prior to joining the World Bank, Dr. Lundberg worked for the Asian Development Bank to conduct a poverty impact assessment of proposed Health Sector and Agriculture reforms for the Government of Mongolia, and to establish a poverty monitoring unit for the office of the Prime Minister, and he worked at Cornell University, Michigan State University, the International Food Policy Research Institute and other agencies, primarily on issues related to food security and nutrition.

Jack Langenbrunner is a global health financing expert with over 35 years of experience advising governments on health systems reform, including advising the US government's health reforms. Dr. Langenbrunner’s major areas of expertise include health financing, strategic purchasing, and universal health coverage. He was formerly the Lead Health Economist at the World Bank where he led the design, development, and implementation of health sector loan projects, and was resident technical health advisor in China and Russia, and subsequently in Indonesia. Dr. Langenbrunner is currently an Expert Advisor on Health Reform to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and an Expert Adviser on Social Health Insurance to the government of Indonesia. He has a PhD in Health Policy from the University of Michigan.

Mariam Hamza is a health economist at Aceso Global, where she supports various projects related to health system strengthening. With six years of experience working with the World Bank Group, Mariam has gained broad knowledge in the field of health economics. She has worked with 10 countries across the MENA, Africa, and East Asia regions, contributing to a wide range of health-related activities. Mariam's primary focus lies in health financing and human resources for health. In her research, she employs a diverse range of methodologies, including discrete choice experiments and quasi-experimental methods. Mariam co-authored over 20 research articles, working papers, and book chapters. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the American University in Washington D.C. Her Ph.D. research specifically explored the production and distribution of human resources for health in Egypt. She speaks Arabic.

Lizeth H. Rubio is a Senior Economist at Aceso Global. She contributes to various projects focusing on health management and system strengthening in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), employing innovative health interventions to create sustainable and equitable healthcare solutions. At Aceso Global, Lizeth is involved in projects aimed at enhancing public health systems in the LAC region and fostering regional cohesion and strengthening institutional frameworks in the ASEAN region. Her expertise centers on health financing and evidence-based decision-making, utilizing research, evaluation, and data analysis to enhance organizational efficiency. She also has over eight years of experience in genomic disease surveillance and vaccine development for Neglected Diseases in LMICs and has collaborated with countries in Africa, Latin America, and Europe on a broad spectrum of health-related interventions. She holds a BS in Molecular Biology, an MSc in Drug Discovery and Translational Biology from the University of Edinburgh and an MBA and Master in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Megan McGuire is a Program Manager at Aceso Global focusing on health system strengthening and global health security. She currently supports projects in pandemic preparedness and health innovation. Prior to joining Aceso Global, Megan conducted research on global health security and disease control with a focus on zoonoses and worked at the Global Health Council in nonprofit advocacy and health policy. She holds a BSFS in Science, Technology, and International Affairs with a concentration in Global Health and Biotechnology from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a MSc in Infectious Diseases and One Health from the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree IDOH+ Program.

Maya Rallapalli is an analyst at Aceso Global focusing on health financing and private sector engagement in LMICs. She is currently supporting projects on engaging the private sector throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and works on communications and outreach. Prior to joining Aceso Global, Maya worked at MedStar Hospital Center in OBGYN operations and at IQVIA Singapore, where she supported pharmaceutical consulting projects in Southeast Asia. Maya holds a BA in International Relations and Public Health, with a concentration on inequality and development, from American University. She speaks French.

Kirby McDonald is an Analyst at Aceso Global, focusing on health financing in LMICs. She currently supports projects on social health insurance, service delivery models, and LAC countries. Prior to joining Aceso Global, Kirby worked as a Research Analyst at Integra FEC, where she supported research efforts into financial fraud across several industries. Kirby holds a BA in Economics and History with a Business Spanish Certificate from The University of Texas at Austin.

Ann Casanova is an international development advisor with more than 20 years of experience providing vision, strategy, and management of development projects and publications for the Global Fund, the International Finance Corporation (private sector lending arm of the World Bank Group), the Inter-American Development Bank, and USAID.  She has a strong background in leading international, multi-disciplinary teams to bring innovative solutions to solve complex development problems in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. For Aceso Global, she oversaw the development of a key study for The Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis, and Malaria on private sector engagement that resulted in recommendations being incorporated into the 2023-2028 strategy. For IFC, she authored numerous publications that promoted global learning on successful health service delivery and business models that are innovative and efficient, and which provide better health outcomes at a lower cost. For the Inter-American Development Bank, she served in the front office of the Country Department for Central America, where she advanced the objectives established under the Agenda for a Better Bank. Ann holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Florida. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Jasmine Sjarif has a multisectoral background having worked in the private and development sector across both North America and the Asia Pacific region. Her expertise lies within health systems, with a particular focus on enhancing universal health coverage, health systems resilience, and primary care. She currently works with Aceso Global, supporting the implementation of the new policy center at the Ministry of Health of Indonesia, as well as at the World Bank in Indonesia, developing the National Stunting Program and procuring essential health equipment to public health facilities across the nation. Previously, she was a management consultant developing business development and market entry strategies for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries in the Asia Pacific region. She has a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell, and Development Biology from UCLA. She is bilingual in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

Sofi Bergkvist is an independent adviser to governments, foundations and private companies on universal health coverage and health system strengthening. She co-founded and served as the Executive Director for ACCESS Health International, a think tank with extensive work and offices in India, China, the Philippines, Singapore and the United States. She has developed programs for national and sub-national insurance programs including programs for quality improvement. Ms. Bergkvist has published research on health financing and quality of care in The Lancet and The British Medical Journal. She has also served as a guest lecturer on public-private partnerships, health financing and innovations in healthcare at Wharton School, Stockholm School of Economics and Brown University. She has an MSc in Business Administration from Stockholm School of Economics where she focused on health economics.

Michael Bourke has managed information systems at two large healthcare chains and at Texas Children’s Hospital. He has extensive expertise in the disciplines needed for the redesign of healthcare processes through information technology, including: IT Strategy, Business Process Redesign, Systems Development, Organizational Assessment and Project Management. He has authored two books on IT strategy and architecture in healthcare. His consulting experience includes work for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and USAID, with projects in Latin America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. In addition to the healthcare sector, Dr. Bourke has extensive experience in the management and development of information systems for banking, foreign trade, education and manufacturing. He was also Professor of MIS at Houston Baptist University, where he directed several programs related to the management of organizations, personnel and information systems, including the MBA program, the MS in IT Management, MS in Healthcare Management and MS in HRM. He has a BA from Boston College, a PhD in Linguistics from Brown University and an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Pedro Chequer has been a global leader in public health for over 30 years and is widely recognized for his leadership in the field of HIV/AIDS. He launched his career building a network of federal programs that effectively controlled malaria in the Brazilian Amazon during the 1980s, and later headed the Brazilian National Epidemiological Center. Subsequently, he managed the country's highly successful National STD/AIDS Program and served as President of Brazil’s National AIDS Commission. He has worked extensively with UNAIDS, including as the UNAIDS representative for the Russian Federation and as Country Coordinator for Brazil, Mozambique and the Southern Cone (Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay), and he continues advising UNAIDS as a senior consultant. Dr. Chequer has also worked as a consultant to the Pan-American Health Organization, and as an advisor at the World Bank. Dr. Chequer holds a medical degree from the University of Rio de Janeiro and a MPH in Epidemiology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Ioan Cleaton-Jones is an experienced consultant and institutional investor with a deep understanding of healthcare and finance gained over 25 years. He was Principal Health Industry Specialist at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group for 11 years, where he carried out 72 health projects including hospitals, clinics, laboratories, oncology centers, medical imaging, renal dialysis, ambulance services, dental clinics and medical device manufacturing. He has conducted detailed due diligence on $1.2 billion of private sector healthcare investments and advised on a $1.6 billion portfolio across multiple asset classes: private and public equity, debt and mezzanine finance. He currently advises a $200m hedge fund on its healthcare portfolio. Previously, he worked in biotech venture capital and management at Angle Technology, UK and was a management consultant at KPMG, South Africa and Shift Health, Canada. Dr. Cleaton-Jones has worked in 33 countries on healthcare finance, strategy and operations. He has an MD from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and an MBA from the University of Southampton, UK. He speaks French, Spanish and Afrikaans.

Sandra Dratler has spent her career managing and consulting to acute care and specialty hospitals globally. She is an experienced professional with a unique background in hospital operations, strategy, finance, governance and academia. The past fifteen years, her efforts have been focused on hospital capacity building in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East with an emphasis on strengthening healthcare organizations and their management structures and teams. Prior to that she spent 25 years in senior management positions in hospitals and health systems in the Minneapolis and San Francisco Bay areas.  She has been a lecturer and academic coordinator at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health and Haas School of Business. She serves as senior advisor to Seva Foundation and its Global Sight Initiative and as a senior consultant to the Global Health Sciences Group of the University of California, San Francisco. She received her DrPH from the University of California, Berkeley. She has a Masters in Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota and BSBA from the University of Denver.

Rob Janett maintains an active practice as a primary care physician at a multi-ethnic public clinic affiliated with the Cambridge Health Alliance.  He is an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School as well as an adjunct assistant professor of family medicine at the Brown Alpert School of Medicine.  He consults on health policy issues to the World Bank and other agencies in the Latin America region, and to other healthcare organizations in the U.S.  For the past six years he has led primary care improvement projects in the Saúde Suplementar in Brazil. He is also Senior Policy Advisor at the Mount Auburn Cambridge Independent Practice Association (MACIPA). Until January 2016, he served as the Medical Director for Accountable Care at Care New England Health Systems in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Janett graduated from Haverford College where he studied social anthropology, and earned his medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. He is board certified in the specialty of internal medicine.

Rafael Mazin is a public health expert from Mexico, and has spent over 25 years as a Senior Advisor at the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO). Over the course of his career, he has provided technical assistance to all PAHO member countries in the planning, implementation and monitoring/evaluation of their national HIV/AIDS programs, as well as in the implementation of specific regional and sub-regional projects and activities. He has deep experience in establishing open and constructive dialogue with diverse stakeholders, including governments, private sector and civil society, and has designed and led numerous training and capacity building workshops for these groups. Dr. Mazin works tirelessly to support improved quality of life for persons affected by the HIV epidemic, and has collaborated in processes geared toward protection of human rights and empowerment of key populations throughout Latin America. In recognition of his advocacy leadership, he received the Golden Medal of the World Association of Sexual Health for life-long achievement in 2017. He is a member of various editorial boards and holds a medical degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and an MPH from The George Washington University.

Joanne has recently retired from Veteran Health Administration in January 2017 after a 38-year federal career as a clinical operations and implementation expert. Her work experience includes clinical and administrative responsibilities at the local, regional and national levels. Ms. Shear held the role of the National Primary Care Clinical Program Manager for VHA as part of the VHA Primary Care Office and was involved in developing, planning, and leading the implementation of the VHA patient centered medical home model, branded Patient Aligned Care Teams nationally. In her national role she served as a clinical resource in planning, designing, integrating, implementing, modifying, administering, and evaluating clinical care and national healthcare policy. Ms. Shear also acted as a consultant to key VHA senior management officials regarding the collection and analysis of system-wide healthcare data and trends, including the integration of measures and models for assessing healthcare trends, care delivery systems, quality, risk, and utilization of resources throughout the nation. She is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
