HIGHLIGHTS

  • Aceso Global supported Paraguay, Panama and the Dominican Republic to initiate transition from reliance on Global Fund support
  • Aceso Global worked with the three governments to identify risks, challenges and opportunities.
  • ·   Recommendations focused on building system capacity to successfully manage the transitions

Aceso Global implemented a pioneering Transition Readiness Assessment (TRA) with the Government of Paraguay, and subsequently worked with Panama and the Dominican Republic to engage in donor transition planning for HIV and TB. The goal was to assess the challenges, gaps, bottlenecks and opportunities within the HIV and TB responses, and recommend strategies and actions to help the countries prepare for transition. The analysis for each country included an in-depth literature review as well as key stakeholder interviews with government officials, civil society, healthcare workers, and private sector and development partners. The Aceso Global team produced country-specific reports to disseminate the findings of the assessments and provide governments and the Global Fund with recommendations for moving forward with transitions in a sustainable way.
