HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Global Fund is strengthening long-term gains by planning ahead for donor transition to ensure gains are not lost upon donor withdrawal
  • Aceso Global is pioneering transition and sustainability approaches to smooth donor disengagement and bolster national program ownership
  • Aceso Global developed a widely relied upon tool to guide Transition Readiness Assessments (TRAs) that review country readiness for transition from donor support.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has made planning for transition from Global Fund support a top priority. Aceso Global developed a tool for the Global Fund to help countries to assess risks and opportunities related to transition, and develop options to facilitate a smoother transition and sustained gains of Global Fund initiatives. The Guidance for Analysis of Country Readiness for Global Fund Transition adds to ongoing efforts by including in-depth analysis on health financing and public sector management issues. The tool is relied upon globally by countries transitioning from Global Fund support.
