HIGHLIGHTS

  • Global trends like rising NCDs and aging require updated models of care involving new roles for hospitals
  • Aceso Global served on the WHO’s Inter-Regional Taskforce on Hospitals
  • The Taskforce examined the role of hospitals in achieving People- Centered Integrated Healthcare based on strong primary care

Aceso Global served on the WHO’s Inter-Regional Taskforce on Hospitals, providing advisory and technical support on its activities and outputs. The Taskforce explored how to rethink the traditional functions of hospital, primary and community care; how to strengthen cross-provider linkages to tackle emerging challenges such as aging and non-communicable diseases; and how to expand the role of hospitals beyond their walls. The Taskforce’s outputs – which Aceso Global contributed to as an author – formed the basis for the WHO brief, “The Transformative Role of Hospitals in the Future of Primary Health Care.”
